            My (printed) 2012 calendar included a page devoted to famous Luso-North Americans, past and present. But in ensuing years many more have found fame, for a range of accomplishments. So for my online 2026 calendar, I updated the page to salute these stars (in alphabetical order).

* Six of the 2012 calendar’s honorees are recognized again, three now with their adult children.

Auli’i Cravalho — singer, actor, voice of Moana

Pete Frates (1984-2019) — ALS awareness spokesman, Ice Bucket Challenge promoter

* Nelly Furtado — Canadian musician, composer

* Teresa Heinz Kerry + André & Christopher Heinz — philanthropists, environmental advocates

Shawn Mendes — Canadian musician, composer

Ernest Moniz, Ph.D. — U.S. Secretary of Energy (2013-17), MIT physics professor

Mike Pereira — NFL rules analyst on TV, a/k/a “Mikey Rule Books”

Evan Rodrigues — NHL New Jersey Devils player
