Henrique Levy is a poet, novelist, essayist, and educator whose identity has been shaped by several countries and cultures across Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Americas. Born in Lisbon and a Cape Verdean citizen, he now resides on São Miguel Island in the Azores, where he teaches and continues an extensive literary career.

The English translation is by Diniz Borges, an Azorean-American educator, author, translator, and cultural advocate from Praia da Vitória, Terceira. Borges is the founding director of the Portuguese Beyond Borders Institute at California State University, Fresno, and has dedicated decades to promoting Portuguese language, literature, history, and the cultural memory of the Azores and its diaspora.
