Professor José Carlos Teixeira in California

A presentation on the Portuguese community in Toronto will take place in San Francisco on March 19, from 8:50am to 11:00am at the Hilton, 4th floor, Tower 3, as part of the annual meeting of the Association of American Geographers, taking place from the 17th to the 21st. The speaker will be Professor José Carlos Teixeira and his presentation is called: “Building Ethnic Landscapes in Canada: A Case Study of the Portuguese Urban Enclave in Multicultural Toronto (Canada).”

The session will explore the history, evolution, and contemporary challenges of the Portuguese community in Toronto.

José Carlos Teixeira is a professor of Geography/Community, Culture and Global Studies at the University of British Columbia Okanagan (Kelowna, Canada). He has published extensively on Portuguese communities in Canada, including within the work of the Lusophone Studies Association.
