Father Norberto Brum will present his new book, Words of the Word, this coming Sunday, the Sunday of the Word of God. The launch event will take place at 5:00 p.m. at the Church of Our Lady of Fátima, in the city of Ponta Delgada, and is open to the entire community.
The book brings together editorials that the priest published weekly over several years in the column “Afectos” in the newspaper Diário dos Açores, within its Youth Pastoral supplement. To complete the liturgical cycle, Father Norberto also wrote previously unpublished texts for Sundays and feast days that had not been covered at the time. The result is a volume of approximately 500 pages, illustrated by children from Casa do Gaiato, who contributed drawings inspired by the different liturgical seasons.
According to Father Norberto Brum, the book grew out of repeated requests from readers who wished to see the reflections gathered in a durable and accessible format. “These are simple reflections on the Word of God, not theological studies,” he explains. “They are meant to touch the reality of our time, help us immerse ourselves in the Word, and offer, each Sunday, a point of reflection and reference.”
The book covers all Sundays of the three liturgical cycles (A, B, and C), as well as feasts, solemnities, and memorials especially celebrated in the Diocese of Angra. Although the texts originated in a supplement aimed at young people, the author emphasizes that the book is intended “for everyone: young people, adults, those with more or less education, more or less involved in the community.” The goal, he stresses, is “to demystify and simplify the Word, making it close and accessible to all.”

The choice of the Sunday of the Word of God for the launch was deliberate. “What matters most is not giving visibility to the book, but to the Word of God itself,” the priest says. “These pages are meant to lead us to the Gospel, to the true Word, which is Jesus Christ.”
Father Norberto also notes that the celebration coincides with the weekend dedicated to Christian unity, reinforcing the symbolism of a moment that “builds and strengthens community.”
The book launch will take place in a celebratory atmosphere, with moments of prayer and music, always highlighting the centrality of the Word. “The focus is not on me, nor on the author,” Father Norberto Brum concludes, “but on what is written and where the Word leads us.”
A native of Vila Franca do Campo, Father Norberto Brum is the parish priest of the Church of Our Lady of Fátima, the newest church in Ponta Delgada.
