ASSAM TEA GARDENS
Gold-tipped leaves dance,
lift and twirl
beneath those secluded
malt-dark eyes,
blooming supple
between glossy lips.
Thrice harvested,
their backs bend low.
Greenweed crowns
press to their brows,
cheeks aglow,
sprouting
in the red-clay valley.
Their heads, a double defense:
the burdened basket,
and the clouds,
their brooding, fickle spouses.

COLHEDORAS DE CHÁ
Dancem nas mãos delas,
folhas de pontas douradas!
Dancem aos seus olhos de malte.
Toquem suave, seus rútilos lábios.
Na terceira colheita,
os corpos alombados,
frontes com tiaras
de verde mato, o rosto
alumiado em jardins de chá
num vale de barro.
Cabeças no amparo dobrado
do custoso cesto de palhas,
e das nuvens,
seus maridos mal-humorados.

Another curisity, the Azores has the only two tea plantations in Europe, both in São Miguel island.
