Pico Island hosts exhibit on Gaza

The Municipal Library of São Roque on Pico Island inaugurated the exhibition “Gaza: where death became a path,” by Maria do Céu Brito, in a session attended by the artist, the Vice-President of the Municipality of São Roque do Pico, Susana Vasconcelos, and several visitors who filled the space with reflection and dialogue.

The exhibition presents a set of works of strong artistic and emotional expression, in which the artist translates, through color and gesture, the pain and suffering of the Palestinian people, particularly women and children, victims of the conflict in Gaza.
In the author’s words, this project is “a cry in the face of the images of violence that reach us every day,” offering a look at the horror of war and the role of art as testimony and resistance against dehumanization.

In addition to works dedicated to Gaza, the exhibition also includes paintings inspired by the Pico volcano, bridging the force of nature with the force of human expression.
The Municipality of São Roque do Pico invites the public to visit this exhibition, on display at the Municipal Library, and thanks everyone who attended the opening, valuing art as a space for awareness and empathy.
