Há Mais Para Ser is a collection of introspective and moving stories, set to Portuguese music in an intimate style with striking lyrics. This is how Rita Costa Medeiros, from the Azores, describes her first album, which will be presented on Saturday, October 4, at the Madalena Auditorium.
This work also marks the singer-songwriter’s debut as a music producer. A “stripped-down” work, it tells us about the process of leaving our nest and discovering how there is always more to be. It acknowledges that we are not static and that there is a path of ascension that can be achieved throughout our lives. In addition, it touches on feelings such as loss, love, longing, and the incomprehension she feels as an artist. The album takes us on a clear change of scenery, moving from the Azorean landscape to that of the capital, where we encounter themes from 2019 and creations that were born months ago. Its end is marked by the only collaboration present in it, in a unique approach, where poetry merges with music, and a third-person narration is heard about the story of its creation.
On the stage of the Cordas Festival, Rita Costa Medeiros, with her voice and guitar, is accompanied by Sofia Vidal’s viola. From October 1 to 11, Madalena do Pico is the capital of string instruments with the tenth edition of the Cordas World Music Festival. www.festivalcordas.com
