Pico Wine Museum hosts tenth edition of Cordas Festival

With the former Carmelite Convent, Alagar, and Dragoeiros Sanctuary, the Wine Museum, part of the Pico Museum complex located in Madalena, is a multifaceted venue for the tenth anniversary celebration of the Cordas World Music Festival, featuring string instruments.

The project by singer-songwriters and friends Nina Soulimant, a French resident of Flores, and Inês Ripamonti, a Portuguese resident of the mainland, will have the honor of opening the space on Friday, October 3, at 12:15 p.m. On Saturday, at the same time, Madeiran string instruments arrive at the hands of the great musicians Roberto Moniz and Roberto Moritz, who lead several musical projects with the Xarabanda association.

Nuno Cintrão is back with a program dedicated to the younger generation, which has already proven successful on the island of Pico.

Canto aos Pássaros (Song to the Birds), with free admission to the general public, takes place on the 6th at 11 a.m. and repeats on Tuesday, October 7, at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. Saunakraut takes the stage at lunchtime on Thursday, the 9th.

A synergy between musicians from Germany and Finland, the original music of Kukka Harvilahti and Rai Ridder, in several languages, fits perfectly with the outdoor setting of the Pico Wine Museum. On the 10th and 11th, we get a taste of Brazil with singer-songwriters Laya and Luizga, who are presenting their solo projects in the Azores for the first time.

The Pico Museum has hosted musical projects from the Cordas festival since its foundation and is a strategic partner of the MiratecArts association. All events in this celebratory edition are free to attend—just show up. For more programming, visit festivalcordas.com or follow us on social media.
