“Where Islands Speak Through Art – From the Heart of the Azores to the Diaspora”

Diário de Angra (newspaper)
Newspaper published in Angra do Heroísmo, based on the motto: “inquire, disseminate, stimulate.” It began publication on January 1, 1922, and ended with issue number 445 on October 31 of the following year. Between issues 26 and 64, it was called Folha de Angra and appeared twice a week for a while due to financial difficulties. Essentially a news publication, it also featured frequent contributions from Luís da Silva Ribeiro, Frederico Lopes, Maduro Dias (poetry), Francisco Valadão Júnior, and M.elle San-Felice. In addition to an ongoing novel, it published a literary page, with contributions from Maria do Céu. It also included short news items from other islands through its correspondents. From issue 138 (October 1, 1922), ownership and editing passed to João de Sousa Marques.
