As part of the LPAZ 2025 Forum, a presentation of the book “One Atlantic, Many Perspectives – Valuing diversity in the age of competition” was held yesterday at Lugar dos Anjos, on the island of Santa Maria. The work, published by Bruma Publications (part of PBBI-Fresno State), in collaboration with the publisher Letras Lavadas and the LPAZ Association, consists of eleven chapters that, through interdisciplinary perspectives, seek to show the diversity and richness of perspectives on the Atlantic, benefiting from the liminal nature of the Azores.
Through these Atlantic narratives, the volume contributes to the rich literature on oceanic regions and their multiple and complex realities. Presented as a bilingual book, in English and French, the volume partly reflects the diversity present in the Atlantic and seeks to bring these themes to a wider audience. The presentation ceremony for “One Atlantic, Many Perspectives – Valuing diversity in the age of competition” was attended by four of the five editors of the work: Licínia Simão, António Monteiro, Ana Mónica Fonseca, and José Domingues de Almeida; Diniz Borges was unable to attend.
Taking place in Vila do Porto, the international forum organized by the LPAZ association is, in its sixth edition, dedicated to the theme “ATLANTIC BRIDGES: Culture, Politics, and Knowledge.” It concludes today, having brought together more than 30 experts from various fields, including Political Science, Space, History, and Literature, among others, to debate the Atlantic and the geostrategic position of the Azores.
Filamentos thanks the Luso-American Education Foundation for its support.
