E POR FALAR EM EXÍLIO
Sentir constante fome
dum lugar sem agressão,
tumulto, nome.
Chamo a isso de exílio.
Exílio, palavra íntima
como a respiração.
Vivi um contínuo estado
de exílio desde que me
tornei humana, cidadã natural
do mundo ocidental.
Nascida num lugar qualquer,
uma andorinha sem ninho nas árvores
ou brechas de rochedos, ave migratória
numa florida terra quente de ventos fortes.
Mas atenta constantemente
`a esse suplício de exílio latente,
ganhei um exalar calmo, aquele da equalização
das correntes simpáticas e parassimpáticas,
vêm com grandes pausas de respirar.
Quietude que desatou um nó visceral
no céu do coração sutil.
Assim fiquei sem sobra de matéria-prima
para o jogo da transformação e cultivo de
mudanças sem fim de bom para
ruim de ruim para bom.
Assim meu exílio terminou,
voltei a esse lugar de paz
sem mim.
SPEAKING OF EXILE…
A constant hunger
for a place without harm,
without noise,
without name.
A private word,
like breath.
I’ve lived inside it
since becoming human,
a native
of the Western world.
Born elsewhere,
a swallow with no nest
in tree or a crevice in rock,
a migratory thing
in a flowering,
wind-wracked land.
Always alert
to the ache of life,
I learned a quieter exhale,
the kind that comes
when sympathetic
and parasympathetic
currents equalize,
and breath drifts
into silence.
A stillness
unlaced a knot
in the sky
of the heart.
After that,
nothing remained,
no raw material
for the old game:
good to bad,
bad to good.
Exile ended.
I returned
to the place of peace,
without me.
