Each day, a page. Each page, a moon. Each moon, Álamo.
Letras Lavadas pays tribute to Álamo de Oliveira.
The Letras Lavadas bookshop in Ponta Delgada has announced that it will be celebrating its sixth anniversary on the 22nd with a special program throughout the day, bringing together literature, gastronomy, children’s activities, a tribute to the writer Álamo Oliveira, and moments of celebration.
The celebrations begin at 10:00 a.m. with an intimate conversation in the bookstore with writer Pedro Almeida Maia, author of “Ilha-América,” followed at 11:30 a.m. by a cooking show led by António Cavaco, where Azorean flavors take center stage in a relaxed atmosphere.
The afternoon gives way to imagination and childhood: at 2:30 p.m., there will be a fun-filled time for children, featuring story time and creative activities led by Ilda Silva. At 5:30 p.m., there will be a tribute to the writer, poet, and playwright Álamo de Oliveira, promoted by the group Palavras Sentidas and the Letras Lavadas Book Club, with an introduction to the author’s life and work by João Pedro Garcia, followed by a poetry recital.
The celebration continues with a musical performance at 6:30 p.m., featuring Rafael and César Carvalho, ending with the traditional cake cutting at 7:00 p.m., accompanied by champagne.
