It promises to be a sunset of classical music from the world of Italian cinema. This Sunday, July 20, at 7:30 p.m., at Forte de Santa Catarina, in Lajes do Pico, the program is quite different from the latest offerings of this season of Música no Forte.
The duo composed of Paulo Borges on trumpet and Antonella Barletta on piano will present “Classici del Cinema Italiano,” a repertoire of songs by Nino Rota and Ennio Morricone, the two most famous Italian composers of film soundtracks. The repertoire consists of a set of themes from films such as “La dolce vita,” “Romeo and Juliet,” “Il Gattopardo,” “Mission,” “Nuovo Cinema Paradiso,” among others.
Paulo Borges, from Terceira, has a degree in trumpet from the National Orchestra Academy and later took classes with Bruno Nouvion, assistant professor at the Paris Conservatory. He currently teaches trumpet at the Tomás de Borba School and participates in various musical projects.
Antonella Barletta was born in Bari, Italy. She attended the
Niccoló Piccinni Conservatory, the Accademia Pescarese, and a specialization course in chamber music under the direction of orchestra conductor Vito Paternoster. She graduated in music therapy at the Popular School of Assisi. Since 2010, she has been resident pianist of the Angra Jazz Orchestra and piano teacher at the Regional Conservatory of Angra do Heroísmo. In 2012, she founded the Wave Jazz Ensemble and participates in various musical projects. In 2016, she received a Master’s degree in Music (performance), specializing in jazz, from the “Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa.”
“Classici del Cinema Italiano” is the third concert of the fourth season of Música no Forte, a MiratecArts project with the Municipality of Lajes do Pico and the support of the Regional Directorate for Culture. Free admission.
