Azorean musician Rafael Carvalho, born in Ribeira Quente, presents a new music video titled “No Trilho,” a song from his upcoming album, which is set for release soon.
“This original song, written for Viola da Terra, is inspired by island life and the trails that exist throughout the Azores. In the past, they were used as a means of transportation to agricultural land that was difficult to access, but today they are mainly used for leisurely walks or physical activity,” reads a statement.
“The song also brings a somewhat unprecedented fusion, combining the Viola da Terra and the Electric Bass, in a combination that worked very well and featured the partnership of Azorean musician Carlos Fontes, with excellent musical collaboration. Throughout the video, in addition to the performance of the piece, you can also catch a nostalgic glimpse of Rafael Carvalho’s various solo albums, marking his journey along his personal path,” he says.

“This musical experimentation and search for new partnerships with the sounds of the Viola da Terra is an indelible mark on Rafael Carvalho’s career, since his first album ”Origens,“ released in 2012. There have been countless musical collaborations and fusions, many of which were unthinkable to hear together with our Azorean Viola,” he declares.
The video clip was produced by Luís Xavier (Cubo X), who also served as the album’s producer, and was recorded in the Pinhal da Paz Forest Recreation Reserve. This location was ideal for filming the video, given its theme and the natural beauty of the space itself.
Rafael Carvalho’s 10th solo album will be released on July 11 in Ribeira Quente.
