Shorts@Fringe awards Audience Awards to five films

The international arts festival, Azores Fringe, presented five sessions of short films as part of the Shorts@Fringe program.

The audience, at the sessions presented at the festival’s epicenter on the island of Pico, chose their favorites. The MiratecArts association, which promotes the festival, awarded the Audience Awards, which include a mini plush toy of the festival’s mascot, Atlante, the animated whale, to mark the audience’s presence and choice.

And the winners of the Shorts@Fringe 2025 Audience Award are:

International Short Film, “Hot Fish” by Yael Reisfeld; Experimental Short Film, “Finimondo” by João Sanchez; Animated Short Film, ‘Jacinta’ by Jo Pinto; Fiction Short Film, “Santa Rita Dream” by Diogo Rola; and from the special session of the Ana Lopes Cycle, the short film chosen was “Cavaleiro Vento” by Margarida Gil.

Shorts@Fringe sessions were presented on eight islands in the Azores and are ongoing. The animation session is part of the Bibliomóvel (Mobile Library) program of the Public Library and Regional Archive in Angra do Heroísmo until the end of the month. Meanwhile, the Public Library and Regional Archive Auditorium in Horta will host the session on June 23.

The Azores Fringe Festival continues with the Fringe Exhibition at the Madalena Library until the end of June. Saturday afternoons are enlivened by DJ AzoreanBeat at the Cella Bar, with the series concluding on the 28th, featuring guests Misuzy and DJ Mel.
