Raquel’s Night

On the evening of April 11, the Book and Wine Fair hosted the launch of two books by the writer Raquel Machado, Momentos Lentos and A Garça Misteriosa. Two moments to savor the delicious poetry of the writer from Ribeiras do Pico, as well as her children’s stories. The works were presented by Manuel Tomás and Victor Rui Dores. The evening, already rich in poetic emotion, was enhanced by top-notch musical performances from Raquel Machado, accompanied by Marino Freitas on acoustic bass. As well as “A Ilha dos Meus Amores”, written by the singer, and “A Laranjinha” (popular), Raquel premiered a new number, with music by Marino Freitas and a poem by Manuel Tomás, “Referente”. The Ilha Negra Duo and the Madalena Folklore Group also performed. This was an authentic music-literary soiree.
