The Sahar Hassamaim Museum in the Azores is celebrating its tenth anniversary with free public open days and Hebrew musical concerts.

The Ponta Delgada City Council will mark the 10th anniversary of the Sahar Hassamaim Hebrew Museum on April 25, 26, and 27 with open days and three concerts by the Vox Cordis Choir.
During these days, the old Ponta Delgada Synagogue will have extended opening hours, opening to the public on April 25, as well as on the weekends of April 26 and 27, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., for personalized visits.

On April 25, 26, and 27, this cultural space will host intimate musical moments by candlelight, with the scent of white flowers, featuring the Sim Shalom concert “Grant us peace” performed by the Vox Cordis Choir, under the musical direction of Odilardo Rodrigues.
Guest soloists will be Maria Isabel Seabra de Vilallonga (Coloratura Lyric Soprano), Conceição Seabra Galante (Spinto Lyric Soprano), and Nuno de Vilallonga (Baritone). At the same time, the Vox Cordis choir will be joined by Rogério Medeiros (tenor) for a final ensemble of soloists, choir, and instrumentalists.
The choir will feature the voices of Ana Coelho, Ana Rita Sousa, Ana Valentim, Diana Massinha, Francisco Rodrigues, Gabriel Costa, Helena Botelho, João Gregório, José Barbosa, Maria Antónia Linhares, Maria Carmo Barbosa, Maria Clara Pacheco, Maria Conceição Freitas, Maria Gabriela Mendonça, Maria Leonor Rodrigues, Mariana Couto, Matilde Rodrigues, Miguel Batista, Natália Medeiros, Nélia Furnas, Rogério Medeiros, Sofia Coelho, Stella Costa, Tomás Ferreira, Vítor Sousa.
The repertoire for this concert consists of 16 pieces of music, many of them sung in Hebrew, and others from the operatic repertoire, including well-known works by Giuseppe Verdi. There will be the precious participation of Ricardo Silva on the piano, Rodrigo Medeiros on the flute, and Matilde Rodrigues on the viola da gamba.
To attend this free event, anyone interested should pick up their tickets on April 22 and 23 at the Sahar Hassamaim Hebrew Museum (Rua do Brum, No. 16), between 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.

It should be noted that this former synagogue was restored by the Ponta Delgada City Council after several years of abandonment and was inaugurated on April 23, 2015, as a Hebrew memory museum and cultural center.
The Sahar Hassamaim Hebrew Museum is a significant space in heritage and cultural terms, recognized and valued by locals and tourists, especially Jews, who visit the city of Ponta Delgada.
