After a period of absence dedicated to his recovery, the artist enthusiastically announces the release of his latest single, “O Avião”, scheduled for today, available on all digital platforms. This release precedes his long-awaited return to the stage, with dates already confirmed for Faial Island, Terceira Island, and São Miguel Island.
According to Luís Alberto Bettencourt, “returning to the stage, especially in my native Azores, after this more delicate period, has immense significance. It’s more than a pleasure, it’s feeling life pulsing again through music and connecting with people. I really missed this warmth and I’m deeply grateful to be able to share songs and emotions again.”
Luís Alberto Bettencourt, a singular and unavoidable figure on the Azorean and Portuguese music scene, author of the emblematic “Chamateia” – a song that has become a true unofficial anthem for the Azores and its diaspora, capturing the essence of the island’s soul and identity – returns with the energy and passion that have always distinguished him. His dedication to music and the recognition of his talent are undeniable, as evidenced by the “Autonomous Insignia of Recognition” awarded by the Regional Assembly of the Azores in the presence of His Excellency the President of the Republic.
His new song, “O Avião”, is a sound journey that invites the listener to contemplate the instant of departure through an engaging narrative that questions a fictionalized figure.
With an accessible melody and sophisticated harmonies, this song confirms Luís Alberto Bettencourt’s mastery of combining words and music in a sublime way.
This digital release also marks Luís Alberto Bettencourt’s long-awaited return to live shows, with the first dates already scheduled in the Azores.
The artist shares about this new phase on stage: “This return is proof that music has an incredible healing power. There were difficult moments, but the desire to sing again, to meet the audience that has always supported me, was my greatest fuel. I’m anxious and full of energy for these concerts – it’s going to be a very special and heartfelt reunion.”
Fans from Faial Island, Terceira Island, and São Miguel Island will have the opportunity to meet the artist again.
The next confirmed performance will be on April 25 at the emblematic Teatro Angrense in Angra do Heroísmo on Terceira Island. More dates for the other islands will be announced soon.
