Evandro Meneses’ SOLO9VIOLA received its world premiere at the 2021 edition of the Cordas Festival. This was followed by concerts on the islands of Terceira, São Miguel, Corvo, São Jorge, and Porto. Last year, he reached Uruguay, Italy, and Spain and performed at the Teatro Faialense. Three years after its debut, SOLO9VIOLA returns to the Cordas Festival in the morning program on Friday, October 11, at 10:30 a.m., in the Madalena Auditorium.

“This year, we’re investing in more daytime programming,” admits artistic director Terry Costa. “This is an opportunity for schools, day care centers, Santas Casas and other entities to bring their clients and partners. The doors are open to welcome anyone who wants to visit.”

On Friday, October 4, at the Madalena Auditorium, the Marcos Fernandez Trio will explore the music of the Latin world, gypsy-jazz, and original compositions by Galician Marcos Fernandez, who has been making his home on the island of Pico for several years. Accompanied by bassist Nuno Mendes and young guitarist Bernardo Alves Macedo, the trio will take the audience through familiar sounds from other eras, sometimes unrecognizable in their arrangements.

On Wednesday, September 9, at 2pm, in the Mother Church of Santa Maria Madalena, guitarist Victor Castro presents a classical repertoire and originals. He has a degree in Music from the Federal University of Maranhão in Brazil and a Master’s in Performance from the University of Aveiro in Portugal. He has twice won the “Raphael Rabelo” prize at the National Guitar Festival and was honored in Lisbon by the Secretary of State for the Portuguese Communities.
