“2 Hearts – The Guitar that unites us”

As a way of marking World Music Day and Viola da Terra Day, celebrated on October 1 and 2, respectively, on October 5 at 9 p.m., the Ribeiragrandense Theatre will host the concert “2 Corações – A Viola que nos une”.
The multidisciplinary concert will show the Viola da Terra in folklore and the importance of its perpetuation by the Viola Schools. It will then move on to the solo Viola with different characteristics of technical execution, tuning, and string numbers in the various islands of the Azores and will highlight its most common form of presentation today through the accompaniment of other instruments.
There will be around 50 players on stage, including Ana Paula Andrade (Piano), César Carvalho (Guitar), Escola de Violas da Terra, Grupo Folclórico do Porto Formoso, Orlando Martins – Pico Island (Viola da Terra), Rafael Carvalho (Viola da Terra) and Tiago Toste – Terceira Island (Viola Terceirense).
Admission is free but subject to capacity, and tickets can be picked up at the Teatro Ribeiragrandense box office from September 23rd.
This is a promotion of the INATEL Foundation in partnership with Ribeira Grande Town Hall and the Violas da Terra Youth Association.
