The Vila do Porto Municipal Library will host the launch of the book “Dripping Words – Selected Poetry from Madalena Férin” organized and translated by Diniz Borges, published by Bruma Publications and Letras Lavadas, on September 4 from 21:30 to 9:30 PM).
The event, which is free to attend, will feature Diniz Borges and readings of some of Madalena Férin’s poems in Portuguese and English.
Diniz Borges explains that this work is the result of several months of translation, with poems from the complete collection published by the Azorean Institute of Culture, and is part of a plan by Bruma Publications at California State University, Fresno, to publish a collection of around a dozen Azorean poets.
The book is a selection of poems by the writer Madalena Férin, one of the most important voices in the Azores, Portugal, and Europe, bringing together a hundred poems so that new generations of Azorean descendants can access her poetry. It has a preface and a life chronology by the poet Ângela Almeida.
