The Angra do Heroísmo City Council and the Angrajazz Cultural Association are holding the 25th Angra do Heroísmo International Jazz Festival – ANGRAJAZZ 2024 – on October 2, 3, 4, and 5, in keeping with the objectives set from the outset:
To present a festival of great quality, likely to constitute a landmark in the annual musical panorama of the Azores and Terceira in particular; to make it visible beyond the borders of the Region, and as such to be included in the annual calendar of jazz festivals in Portugal; to contribute to the development of a taste for jazz in the Region.
ANGRAJAZZ has already largely achieved these goals. In fact, references to its concerts often appear in high-profile national newspapers such as Público, Expresso, Diário de Notícias, or on the Jazz.pt, jazzlogical.net, or lookmag.pt websites; some of its concerts have been considered among the best of the year in Portugal; and there is no doubt that many people “have it on their agenda”, making it an indispensable event in the Azorean cultural calendar, but also in the national jazz calendar, and with international recognition.
“This year is the 25th edition of the Angrajazz Festival, an edition that has justified the organization preparing a special program and the municipality increasing its support. This is an event that puts our World Heritage city on the international map of the jazz world, and several world-renowned artists have already appeared on the stage of the CCCAH. This year’s edition deserves to be highlighted, as it celebrates the 25th anniversary of the festival, a festival of unparalleled quality, which is already a landmark in the annual music scene, in the Azores and Terceira in particular,” said the Deputy Mayor of Angra do Heroísmo, Guido Teles.
