The third edition of LAVADIAS, the open-air film festival, returns to Forte de Santa Catarina, in Lajes do Pico. Three nights with documentaries, animation, and action, works of the seventh art, screened from August 13 to 15 at 21:30.

The first night, dedicated to documentaries, features two premieres on the festival’s theme: water, seas, and oceans. “Between the Sea and the Island” is a short film by José Rodrigo Freitas from Faial, while Nuno Sá returns to the festival, this time with “Lajes Land of Giants”.

The night before the holiday is dedicated to the whole family with the great animated film “Noah’s Ark – The Adventure”, a Brazil-India co-production with Portuguese voices. Vini and Tom are two bohemian mice inspired by Vinícius de Moraes and Tom Jobim. After accidentally witnessing the moment when God entrusts Noah with the task of taking only one couple of each species onto his ark, the two friends find a way to embark on this adventure together. Amid the chaos, the flood, and the whims of a greedy lion, the film turns out to be an amusing political fable, where Music and Poetry are the counterpoint to the cruelty and tyranny of the dominant animals.

Closing the festival, action in the middle of the Pacific Ocean is what filmmaker Claudio Fah offers us in “No Way Up”. The film marks its territory in the survival thriller scene with intensity and striking visual effects.
