“Montanha Pico Festival” is Top 10 in the Iberian Festival Awards

In the category of “Best Non-Music Festival”, the best festivals that don’t focus on music, the Montanha Pico Festival is once again on the finalist list of the best ten in the Iberian Peninsula. The Iberian awards will be presented on 15 March in Granada, organized by APORFEST.
Montanha Pico Festival is dedicated to the seventh art, the only festival in Portugal with the theme of mountain culture. On the highest mountain in the country, films are shown throughout the month of January in the island’s three municipalities. As well as works that highlight mountain culture around the world, or stories set in mountain scenery, the festival also has space for works produced or filmed in the Azores.
“This is the only annual project in the Azores that gives us the opportunity to show what we do on the islands on the big screen,” admits Terry Costa, the artistic director of MiratecArts, the association that produces the event. “We’ve just wrapped up the tenth edition, and year after year we learn a lot, reformulate, adapt and always improvise, with the aim of presenting the most diverse program to our audiences.”
Montanha Pico Festival is dedicated to world cinema and audiovisual production from the Azores, but has also promoted a photography competition and exhibitions in its program. The eleventh edition will be presented on December 11, International Mountain Day.
