The abstract paintings of the artist César Martiniano, from Terceira island in the Azores, are on display until January 23 at the Agora Gallery in New York.
“Altered Perceptions” features seven artists and consists of eight works by Martiniano.
The exhibition consists of paintings, photographs, and digital collages.
According to the press release sent to DI, the paintings created by the Azorean artist and now exhibited in New York “are a tribute to the vibrant colors of the Azores, transporting the viewer to a transatlantic journey.”
As well as representing an impressive milestone in the artist’s career, the paintings promote Azorean art on the international stage.
“His work invites the public to dive into inner landscapes, connecting with the essence of human experience and highlighting the importance of diverse perspectives in contemporary art,” reads the press release.
The opening occurred on January 2 and was attended by the Azorean artist.
Martiniano’s art stands out for its abstraction and use of acrylics, spray, pastels, and colored pencils on canvas or paper, creating works that challenge the traditional norms of abstract painting.
In October 2023, his works were exhibited at the Carrousel Du Louvre in Paris.
Earlier this year, he challenged the metaverse space by recreating his exhibition and the space of the Angra do Heroísmo Cultural and Congress Center on an online site.
As well as being physically exhibited, the “Inner Landscapes” exhibition could be visited in its online metaverse by people worldwide.
