In January, on the day dedicated to International Conservator-Restorer, the Luís da Silva Ribeiro Public Library and Regional Archive (BPARLSR) welcomes specialist conservator-restorer Eva Armindo, who takes textiles on a journey from fiber to object.
“The materials used in textiles are fibers, usually of natural origin, which, through spinning, bonded and twisted, are transformed into yarns. These, in turn, are organized into more or less complex textile structures by crossing them on a loom or by creating knots, nets or laces using other tools. These are used to create three-dimensional pieces, such as clothing, for example, but also in a large number of objects, often appearing integrated in pieces from other categories, associated with different materials: this is the case, for example, of the documents from the Luís da Silva Ribeiro Public Library and Regional Archive, bound or maps and plans,” adds the statement form the Angra Library and regional Archival Center.
With this in mind, the BPARLSR “invites the public to visit the exhibition on display in the Archive Consultation Room, which deals with this subject, which is extremely important for understanding and preserving our heritage.”
