The festivals of the MiratecArts association, Azores Fringe, Montanha Pico Festival, Azores Birdwatching Arts, and AnimaPIX are on the list of non-musical festivals nominated for the best in the Iberian Peninsula. The Iberian Festival Awards annually highlight festivals produced in Spain and Portugal. Organized by APORFEST – Associação Portuguesa Festivais de Música, this event, the only one at the Iberian level aimed at the music festival sector, also has a category for non-music festivals, which all the festivals produced by MiratecArts, on the island of Pico, qualified for nomination. At the same time, the Cordas World Music Festival qualified for six categories for the awards, including “Best Small Festival,” which the public votes for through the following site http://www.talkfest.eu/nominees2024 online.

The audience and general public can help qualify the nominations for the TOP 10 and vote in the open categories. Photographer Pedro Silva has a photo competing for “Best Festival Photo”; the photo captures one of the many facial expressions of artist Maija Kauhanen, one of the favorites at the festival. In the “Best Live Performance – International” category, we once again find Finnish artist Maija Kauhanen, who received a standing ovation at the Madalena Auditorium, which brings us to the “Best Venue” category, where we find the Madalena Auditorium Library, as the best space to produce the festival. “Definitely one of the artists’ and audiences’ favorite spaces,” admits Terry Costa, artistic director of MiratecArts, “the Biblioteca Auditório da Madalena is the epicenter of many of MiratecArts’ projects and is perhaps the only entity that uses every corner of the public building. I urge you to vote online in all the categories, especially those featuring Cordas and other MiratecArts festivals and artists. I appeal to the people of Pico and our audiences and to all Azoreans and friends worldwide to vote in the categories open and listed online at http://www.talkfest.eu/nominees2024.”

The Cordas World Music Festival is also nominated for “Best Touristic Promotion” and “Best Cultural Program,” with a private jury evaluating the process.
The Iberian Festival Awards gala occurs on March 15 in Granada at the Sala Manuel de Falla, one of Spain’s most emblematic concert halls.
