Carlota Monjardino exhibits in Santa Maria Island

The artist from Terceira, Carlota Monjardino, opened her 32nd solo exhibition at the Vila do Porto branch of the Santa Maria Museum. “Transparencies,” which shows 21 paintings depicting landscapes of the island, has been on display since September 1st and can be seen until November 30th.
“In some of the paintings I’m using a new technique based on overlapping colored fabrics and nets, which give an effect of transparency and depth – almost without using paint – and in which the thread is sewn rather than painted. I liked the result and I intend to continue this research in future works,” she told DI newspaper in Angra.
