The traveling exhibit “A Décima Ilha” is open to the public at the Biblioteca Pública e Arquivo Regional Luís da Silva Ribeiro in Angra do Heroísmo until October 20th.
This exhibition addresses and characterizes the communities of Azorean emigrants and descendants in Brazil, the United States of America, Canada, Bermuda, and Uruguay, as well as the continental regions of the North, Greater Lisbon, and the Algarve, in addition to Madeira.
The “Tenth Island” exhibition also highlights the Houses of the Azores based in Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Bahia, Santa Catarina, Rio Grande do Sul, Maranhão and Espírito Santo (Brazil), Hilmar and New England (United States of America), Quebec, Ontario and Winnipeg (Canada), Bermuda, Uruguay, Lisbon, the North, the Algarve and Madeira.
After being inaugurated by the President of the Regional Government, José Manuel Bolieiro, at Casa Manuel de Arriaga, in the city of Horta, Faial, the 11 pieces that make up the exhibition are now available in the Reading and Home Loan Room of the Luís da Silva Ribeiro Public Library and Regional Archive.

The pieces are complemented by a bibliographic display on the exhibition’s theme.
With informative texts in Portuguese and English, “A Décima Ilha” will travel to Ponta Delgada, in São Miguel, before heading to Brazil at the end of this year.
This is the starting point for an itinerary that will take her to visit the different communities of the Azorean diaspora.
The exhibition, which opened last Thursday at the Luís da Silva Ribeiro Public Library and Regional Archive, is an initiative of the Regional Directorate for Communities in partnership with the Horta Museum.
